Runner-up

Christmas card picture that is. There was something about Matthew's expression that just wasn't working for me but otherwise I love it.

I took this in Portland along with the others already posted the end of November. Brian and I were able to go back last week and spend a lot of time exploring. As far as I'm concerned we are already moved into a beautiful 3000 square foot Craftsman that has been remodeled up and down to my exact specifications. Yes, I am dreaming and no, life here is not that bad that I need to imagine my way through it. It feels good though to have some focus on where life will (hopefully) take us once the Army years are over (five more years for the record). I would often feel this sense of panic when I thought about where we'd be once we were out...when you could go anywhere, where would you go? Overwhelming to say the least. There is a feeling of peace that we may have settled on an area...given there is a job of course, kind of a big deal. Oh, but we could have that house on my teaching salary couldn't we? ha ha ha!

Anyway, it was a great vacation, here and in Oregon. Lots of doing nothing but puttering, bike rides/runs (I run and they all try to keep up on their bikes. Ok, maybe it's the other way around), learning the ways of the Wii...tennis is the adult game of choice and my Mii kicks you know what...refereeing the kids who maybe had a little too much together time and really just hanging out. Yesterday marked back to reality and we are all struggling a bit, but I guess that's what makes a vacation so sweet.
