We are in the new digs! It wasn't the best start but it quickly improved. I thought it would be so nice to have a little home cooked meal since it was our first night, so I set out to make spaghetti, only to realize we had no can opener (and yes I was using canned tomatoes, love the garlic and basil kind!), strainer or spoon of any kind other than small plastic to stir. That's ok, we can work around that...but putting the water on to boil caused quite a panic. I turned on a burner and poof, the power was out for the whole house. One burner can do that? Thankfully our fabulous landlord lives below and was up in a flash, between the two of us we figured out the cause. I'm actually glad it happened, the Army gives us appliances for the length of stay here and you get luck of the draw in style, color and such. We have a fine fridge, dishwasher and Euro washer and dryer, but the stove is ghetto and we secretly hoped it wouldn't work so we could wait for a different one. Apparently it doesn't like us either! The heat in the house was also not cooperating, but again, the landlord was on it right away and was feeling horrible. He and his wife came knocking on the door with baskets of wood and supplies to light our wood stove while the heat system was being looked at. Within minutes the radiators were warming up thank goodness! It was getting a little chilly and I was getting a little nervous.
It's nice to be in the place we will make our home for the next three years or so. The kids are all three in one room for now, I think the month in the hotel made them closer than ever. We tucked them in and opened their curtains so they could fall asleep to the most beautiful, peaceful view...the church across the street lights up the steeple at night, and out here in this tiny village in the country it's about the only light around. Love it.

It's like camping in a castle! So glad your landlords are awesome. Hope a Viking stove comes available next, it would be perfect for that grand kitchen!
Camping, yes! Sam's teacher said the same thing. I wish I had some marshmallows.
