I am just now able to post pictures to the blog, so we'll start with a recap of our trip on the Santa Train. We drove up to North Bend which is east of Seattle to catch the train, an old locomotive somewhat like the Polar Express. Once on board, we chugged up the hill to the town of Snoqualmie (the setting of Twin Peaks I believe, I wasn't really into the show but this is what I hear). Anyway, it was a twenty minute ride with some beautiful scenery and music courtesy of the "Jingle Bell Man". This old guy sang his heart out and shook his hat (adorned with bells) to the beat. Pretty cute, although Kate was really unsure of him. Above are the kids waiting for the train.

The old depot in Snoqualmie. It is a museum of old trains you can tour through with a pretty red depot, very quaint. The colors were beautiful. Santa was in the building you can barely see on the left in this picture.

We were shocked to find that all three kids admired Santa this year. We were prepared for Kate to be afraid of him, after all she was horrified by Disney characters to include the princesses, but I guess that was quite a while back. Or maybe she just caught on that Santa was the guy who was going to bring her toys. Santa was wonderful, very kind and real. Each family went into a room in the depot and had a little one on one with Santa, much more intimate than the mall experience. The boys asked for Planet Heroes and I think Kate said she wanted a kitty.

Brian and our friend Rich enjoyed this train, as both are Medical Service Corps officers. It housed the dining room where we had hot chocolate, coffee and homemade cookies. Guess how many of the kids spilled their hot chocolate? Yes, all three. They were so in awe of the whole Santa Train experience that it really didn't phase them. Brian and I were phased to say the least.

Gavin, Collin, Matthew, Kate and Sam. It was dark and cold but they were loving it.
