Napolean

And no, not Dynamite, although we can't help but love that guy.  I remember Sam being glued to the tv when he was about three, trying his darndest to imitate those sweet moves.

Here are some pictures from our outing in Waterloo a few weeks ago.  After the flea market we visited the monument at the Battle of Waterloo.  We all learned a lot and really enjoyed the visit, even the two movies we watched that were in French.  English subtitles thankfully for us...I'm not sure how that busload of Japanese tourists managed but again, we Americans are losing the game of second, third even fourth languages, so they were probably just fine.

Entering Waterloo.  See the Union Jack flying proud?

The monument and 200 plus stairs leading up

Someone was mad he couldn't roll down the hill.  Or that Napolean lost, I don't know.

Reenactment in the gift shop

Yes, right by the special Waterloo beer.  None was broken rest assured.
Sam trying to get the cannonball out after a few hundred years

Checking out this beautiful old restaurant, it was full of memorabilia but alas, a bit too fancy for the kiddos

Instead we ended up here much to Brian's dismay

Just a few beers here in Belgium!

That is a face of contentment

Enjoying the well-earned "dame blanche".  What's up with that mouth?

Our favorites.  Brian's is the Trappistes Rochefort, mine the Gordon's Highland Ale, which contrary to it's name is from Belgium.  They each are in their appropriate glass.

Happy boy with his "gauffre mikado", or Belgian waffle with ice cream, hot fudge and whipped cream.  Terrible stuff.
Another happy Bender boy

No trip to a famous battlefield would be complete without busting out a few moves on the dance floor.

In case anyone needs, or wants, a history lesson/refresher on this battle, here you go.  Mind you it's on the BBC website so perhaps a bit biased, but it's comprehensive and gives you a good overview.
