Brian had a NATO course down in Garmisch this week so the kids and I just had to tag along. Poor us. Perfect opportunity to get the kids on skis, so four day ski school it was. Sam and Kate were first timers, Matthew the old pro after his second year of the Canadian/Norwegian school field trip to France for a week of winter sports. All three kids had a great time and profess to "love skiing". Very much unlike me, but I'm happy to have found something everyone in this family enjoys (except me, but I'll take one for the team for the sake of family fun once in a while). Sam even wants to be a ski instructor. As long as he keeps on skiing and doesn't lose his boyish good looks and that twinkle in his eye I think he'll be a success. Kate did not want to take the skis off at the end of a six hour day, she was bound and determined to be better than her brothers. She's a hard worker that one. Some pictures from the week.
Most pictures are from the "backyard" of the lodge/bunny hill, but all three kids went up the mountain in a gondola, and used chairlifts and did "red and blue" runs. Very proud of themselves, and as you can probably tell, I'm proud of them. Nobody won a medal in the last day's race, but the fact that they weren't afraid of the chairlift, didn't whine about the ugly uncomfortable boots and came out smiling in the end made me one happy and proud mom.

Beautiful kids and snow. Wonderful opportunity and great memories!
Thank you Marjie! Congrats on your newest grandchild. Kate and I were talking about her quilt you made the other night. It's still as beautiful as ever!
