Who is this hiding under the hair curtain? It's Miss Kate of course on the morning of her sixth birthday (August 26, I'm just a little behind). Gift number one, slippers Brian ordered from one of his outdoor/bicycling/camping/man-shopping web sites. This is one household where the husband outshops the wife if you don't count groceries or girls' trips to Paris. For the record his shopping is 99% online. Kate loves these slippers, so well done Brian!
Below, Kate's big gift. Kit, the cute blond American girl who kept her chin up during those Depression years. Why isn't Kit wrapped in a box? Because I was able to score a deal on a previously loved Kit from another SHAPEian. Why not? Isn't that what Kit's mom would have done? She's in perfect shape and even came with a cute little antique desk. I'm getting the feeling that may be Felicity's desk but perhaps that's all Kit had during those tight years. Kate was one happy girl and was so surprised to find it was little Kit sitting in a desk who knocked on the mudroom (in a typical state of disarray) door!

Kate had several ideas for her party, but ultimately wanted to have cake and a bonfire. The bonfire was rained out, but we had cake and our new neighbors/old friends the Leiendeckers joined us. This made Kate very happy and that's all that matters when it's your birthday. The following pictures are all of her opening gifts. Overkill? Sure, but this helps mom guilt I feel for not having a proper party.
We love you Kate!
