euro washer

Euro-sized appliances are not my favorite part of this European experience.  Thankfully our fridge, dishwasher and stove are considered "American-sized" (aka LARGE?  Thanks?)  However, our washing machine and dryer are Euro all the way.  Families out there who do laundry will sympathize I'm sure, although some will grumble that at least I get to have a little tiny washer while LIVING in EUROPE (and I agree, completely, love my life...) but the things are so darn little!  And our kids make a lot of laundry!  We can fit probably a third of what I could cram in my regular washer in the States.  Maybe a third.  And as it so happens, these kids of ours keep getting bigger which makes for larger clothing, less per load so more loads!  I will confess that there is a mountain in our laundry room.  Future guests...warning.  Your room is joined onto the laundry room.  This isn't as awful as it sounds, but we will certainly attempt to tame the mountain before you arrive.  Feel free to help in the taming if that's your thing  (there are some out there who have a passion for laundry!)  So why don't I just do laundry on the days I am home suffering from silent house syndrome?  Because we only do laundry and run the dishwasher after 10pm and on weekends if we can help it.  Heating and electricity are extremely expensive here, but after ten and on weekends it's half the price!  Great, but really, who wants to stay up all night washing clothes, or be a slave to your tiny machines all weekend when you could be out exploring?  Hence the mountain.  You just can't have it all, can you?

Maybe I'll talk about the condensation dryer next time.  Woo hoo!  Super fun stuff!  Happy weekend.  I'll be digging out from under the mountain.

Hope your kids aren't like mine and just put everything in the dirty clothes instead of seeing if it is actually dirty first.... sounds like a pain indeed.
