We took about twelve of the little Coho salmon down to the creek, nicely double bagged and packed in a small ice chest. If all goes well, they will eventually swim to Puget Sound. Sam was concerned since they hatched from eggs in an aquarium in the classroom that the poor fish will be completely confused as to where they'll need to go to lay their own eggs one day. Very good question I thought. After churning it over in his head for a minute he concluded that they'd come back to the ice chest. Bummer, we couldn't leave that behind.
The creek runs to the sound along the trail that leads to our beach. About a mile or two each way, nicely shaded and filled with nature...great way to occupy a few of these long summer days!
